Cover for individual items or sets of items is limited to $2,000 (laptop computers and associated equipment are covered automatically up to a limit of $6,000).
You can apply for an extension to cover items of higher value, up to a maximum of $10,000 per item or set of items. Any items covered for a higher limit are referred to as 'specified items'.
To purchase a higher limit of cover for any specified items, enter your trip details here and select 'cover for high value personal items'. You will need to list any items for which you require a higher sum insured. Please include make or model details where applicable.
A premium of $200 applies on a per trip basis for specified item cover, regardless of how many high value items you might include. The maximum sum insured for all luggage and personal affects remains unchanged.
Specified item cover increases the per item sub limit however the overall limit for the Luggage, personal belongings and travel documents section remains the same.
Sporting equipment, including bicycles, cannot be specified.
In the event of a claim you must be able to provide proof of the items value such as purchase receipts or valuations.
