Age Limits and Mature Traveller Medical Cover

Age Limits

There is no cover under this policy for travelers aged 90 years or older at the date they are scheduled to depart on their trip.

There are also limitations for cover provided to travelers aged 75-89 years at the date they are scheduled to depart on their trip, specifically:

  • Benefit Section A. Travel Cancellation before your journey starts: Cover is limited to $5,000 per person.
  • Benefit Section B. Travel Cancellation after your journey starts: Cover is limited to $5,000 per person.
  • Benefit Section H (3). Accidental death and disablement common carrier: Cover is limited to $100,000 and the benefit only applies where the common carrier is a passenger aircraft.
  • There is no cover under the following sections:
    • Benefit Section C. Overseas medical expenses,
    • Benefit Section H (8). Loss of income,
    • Benefit Section L. Epidemics and pandemics

Cover you can purchase for Mature Travellers

Travellers aged 75 years and older (including over age 90) can apply to remove some age limitations described above and any extension of cover in this context is referred to as Mature Traveler cover. This type of cover can only be purchased prior to your departure from New Zealand.

If you are aged between 75 and 89 years (inclusive), you can apply to remove the age limits applicable to:

  • Benefit Section A. Travel Cancellation before your journey starts,
  • Benefit Section B. Travel Cancellation after your journey starts,
  • Benefit Section C. Overseas medical expenses,
  • Benefit Section L. Epidemics and pandemics.

 

If you are 75 to 89 years of age and you choose not to purchase mature age cover you will still be covered for benefits other than those listed above however this site will not produce a confirmation of cover letter. If you are aged 90 years and older, you can apply for cover under all benefits stated in the policy except Benefit Section H. Accident lump sum benefits and loss of income
